Medical grade retinol is a powerful ingredient that may cause some irritation or dryness to your skin, because pure retinol instantly begins working to remove dead skin cells and improve your skin’s texture.
Retinol products cause initial dryness, redness, and sensitivity, which is called "retinoic reaction.” This is a known reaction to using medical grade retinol.
This is not an allergic reaction, but an intrinsic property of all retinol serums and creams.
Revoderm's retinol night cream is specifically designed with a unique epidermal carrier system (encapsulated retinol) to minimize this tendency.
If you experience dryness, redness, and sensitivity, please be aware that these tend to improve with time once your skin becomes accustomed to it. You may also choose to add more moisturizer into your skin care routine to restore balance for the time being.
Dryness, redness and peeling may occur. If it does, stop using the product for several days. Then, restart Revoderm Retinol by mixing in equal parts with a moisturizer, such as our Mega Multi Vitamin C Moisturizer.
If you still need guidance on use of retinol, send our skin experts an email at info@derm.ca.
NOTE: Be sure to always wear sunscreen outdoors while using retinol products to protect your results and to prevent skin damage, as your skin becomes extremely sensitive to UV rays and the damage they can cause, such as increased brown spots.
For long lasting results, use with the Anti-Aging Revolutionary Results Routine.
